We re-carved this Star Rose Quartz into a cane handle

A jeweler here in Colorado was assembling a collection of canes with very special and gemmy cane handles.

While at a local gem show, I came across a dealer from Brazil who had some gorgeous Star Rose Quartz spheres.

Using my smarphone, I took photos of the spheres and emailed them to the jeweler. He liked the idea of re-shaping the Star Rose Quartz into a cane handle. Only minutes after talking with him I was able to purchase a Star Rose Quartz sphere of the correct size for our can handle project.

This is the photo which I sent to the jeweler with my smartphone.

I felt I needed to move quickly because the star spheres were getting a lot of attention from buyers at the gem show due to their high quality.

Measuring the spheres

We decided on an appropriate size of handle for the cane.

I then needed to measure the spheres to find the correct size in a nice quality.

Fortunately, I found one in the correct size which also happened to be one of the nicest pieces the dealer had.

The finished cane handle

This is a side view showing the mushroom shape which we carved from the sphere.

As some of you know, we needed to 'orient' the position of the shape in a manner so that the star would be 'centered' on the top of the handle.

Here you can see the niece star on the top of the handle.

Another view

This is another view showing the star using my bright penlight.

I am planning to post a video of the star cane handle sometime soon. So stop back later to see it.
