Faceting Tiny Gemstones
Faceting very tiny gems can offer special challenges.
One of the challenges is keeping the tiny gem on the dop stick which holds the stone while working on it. If the stone comes off of the dop stick during faceting, it can fly across the room and be very difficult to find. Sometimes it makes more sense to start over. For these reasons, it sometimes takes almost as long to cut a tiny stone as a larger one.
