Drilling a faceted Synthetic Ruby

We are sometimes asked to drill faceted gemstones.

Photo of a red synthetic Ruby with a hole in the center.

Drilled synthetic Ruby

As you can see, when we drill a transparent material, the hole reflects in a way that you can see 4 holes. One for each side of the stone.

An arrow telling users to click on the photo to make it larger.

This is another view of the same synthetic Ruby which has been drilled.

Another view of the drilled synthetic Ruby

This is a slightly different view of the same stone.
