We carved 2 Onyx to match the Sample Quartz carving
For this job, the jeweler sent us this ring and the piece of carved Quartz which you can see to the right of the ring below. His customer liked the Quartz carving but wanted it done in black Onyx.
Rather than doing it in one piece, like the Quartz, he said he would prefer if the carving was done in 2 pieces so that the 2 pieces would join in the middle. This was because of the arching bar which he added to the ring to hold the carving in place. He was going to add pave diamonds to the bar and did not want to have to solder around the Onyx. (this was done in the days before laser welders)
You can see a series of 'steps' which are carved into the Onyx and polished.
