A jeweler sent us this ring and broken black Onyx cabochon. Their customer wanted this ring to be restored to like new condition.
I gave them the option of making the new cabochon in Black Jade because it is a much tougher material. They agreed to do so.

This is the ring and broken black Onyx cabochon they sent us.
After explaining how much tougher Black Jade is than Onyx, their customer decided to have the new stone cut from Black Jade for a small extra cost.
Here you can see the new Black Jade cabochon which we drilled for the emblem.
If the holes appear to be a bit off center, that is because of the placement of the tubes on the back of the emblem. If the tubes are off by a bit, then we need to adjust the holes in the stone accordingly so that the emblem will be properly centered.
Here you can see the finished ring with the Black Jade cabochon with the emblem in place and both are now mounted in the ring.
