We repaired the chip in the table of this Blue Topaz
while in the pendant mounting

A jewelry store here in Denver brought me this Blue Topaz which was set in a heavy white gold pendant mounting.

The stone had bumped into another hard stone which had put a chip into the table of the Blue Topaz.

Because the stone was set with heavy bezels, the jeweler prefered to not have to unmount and then re-mount the stone.

The impact created tiny micro-fractures which extended into the stone.

I had to first take down the table far enough to get 'under' those fractures. Then I put a high polish on the new table.

Finished table with a new polish

You can see that the chip is gone and the table has a nice new polish!
