Tubes carved from Synthetic Sapphire

A jeweler on the East Coast contacted us, asking if we could carve a pair of 'tubes' from synthetic Sapphire. Carving synthetic Sapphire is a tough job, but then we like tough jobs.

They were designing a custom made pair of cufflinks for their customer and the design called for a synthetic Sapphire tube.

We keep a stock of synthetic materials of various colors and if we don't have the correct color in stock, we can order it from our supplier.

Carving the material

Here we are working on making the hole which will become the tube.

Polishing Sapphire is difficult because it is a very hard material. But polishing the 'inside' of a tube is much more difficult. It is very time-consuming.

Here you can see the pair of finished synthetic Sapphire tubes.

The jewelry designer will mount these into the cufflinks they are designing.
